Superstition Meadery -- Prescott, AZ

Following Kenny's near death experience, Sarah Love and Kenny regrettably took a few months off from pretzel tastings. One of Kenny's wishes was to just resume the normality of his own life as soon as humanly possible. Or, what would be considered the new norm going forward as he had to wear a portable defibrillator vest 24/7. Think.... a bra with a medium sized battery pack which was attached with roughly a three foot cord. The latest and greatest in life saving fashion!

Sarah Love and Kenny arrived in Prescott early enough to easily find parking in one of the local garages. They soon started to venture about and explore everything the mountain mining town had to offer and found themselves in what could only be described as a tourist megastore. The establishment housed multiple retail operations including but not limited to a souvenir store, a spice shop, and much more. While perusing the gift shop Sarah Love was intrigued by the "Honey for Cheese" she had found. Eagerly asking an associate about it Sarah Love and Kenny learned it was essentially honey, but it had a thinner viscosity when compared to traditional honey. Of course, with the future in mind, Sarah Love added it to the basket with visions of a majestic charcuterie party.

Surprise, surprise! Also within the market there was a niche store that specialized in olive oils and balsamic vinegars, appropriately named Olive U Naturally. Sarah Love and Kenny spent some time tasting and reviewing the oils and vinegars that piqued their interests. One that stood out as particularly scrumptious was the Pineapple White Balsamic Vinegar which they also had to "add to the basket".

After checking out with their items, Kenny and Sarah Love made their way to the lower level which houses Superstition Meadery's underground tasting room. To begin their tasting, Sarah Love enjoyed a flight of meads and Kenny sipped on full pours of the meads that sounded particularly delightful in his opinion.
Kenny is very familiar and quite a fan of their beverages and wishes to make a return trip at a later date. While partaking in the libations, their stomachs started to growl loudly... enter the pretzel.

"Pretzel Bites"

Menu Description: Soft Pretzel Bites, served with beer cheese and brown mustard.

$12.00

As Sarah Love and Kenny sat at the bar with their meads and one another's company, out came the tasty treats. The pretzels were likened to tennis balls since they had a solid brown stripe up the middle and differentiating tan coloration on both ends. They were bite-sized, roughly the size of a walnut. Depending on its individual location on the platter, each delicious pretzel was sprinkled either mildly to heavily with salt.

There was a crispy exterior and a fluffy center to each warm bite that was soft and supple, almost melting in your mouth. The cheese,
having a deep smoky flavor, was quite a wonderful complement. As for the mustard, it blended very well with the pretzels' taste. These little nuggets were an excellent finger food. Oh boy, what a treat! This pretzel tasting set quite a steep curve for the day...

The Attic Ale House -- Arcadia, Phoenix, AZ

The Attic Ale House - Arcadia, Phoenix, AZ
May the 4th be with you! May 21st, 2023 Kenny and Sarah Love visited The Attic which is an Ale House that we love to frequent as much as possible. It's situated on the top floor of a small shopping center with random shops we have never thought to explore.

One of the things that draws us to this place is the exquisite view. Sitting on the outside balcony you can see the breathtaking Camelback Mountain. (A part of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve). The interior of the place is long and skinny with plenty of TVs to entertain the sports enthusiast. Every
once in a blue moon Kenny and Sarah Love go there to watch football, namely the Eagles but especially her Bills!

There is a pretty solid drink selection, too - from craft beers to mixed drinks to wine to mead.  Kenny's most memorable drink was called The Caveman Bloody Mary. It costs as much as a meal but it's a meal in and of itself and literally has everything you can imagine adorning it.

Sarah Love thinks the mimosa flight (consisting of three glasses of sparkling champagne with different juices) is outstanding. You can choose from a wide selection of mixers including peach, passionfruit, mango, guava, orange, grapefruit, pineapple or cranberry. They're also on special every Sunday during brunch (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM)!

Lastly, The Attic is small and quaint which adds to it's welcoming appeal. It's definitely a spot we suggest you visit!

Our pretzel came out a beautiful golden brown in color. There was a scant amount of salt decorating the treat. A nice crunch came with the outside while the inside was surprisingly soft. The consistency was comprised of a yeasty and thick dough. The beer cheese was a little spicy and sadly somewhat cheap tasting. However a tasty horse radish mustard also came with the pretzel which was a much better complement.
